A new study published by The Royal Society shows that pigeons (鴿子) have amazing memories. The report says they can use landmarks (地標) to remember their way, even after four years.
英國皇家學會的一項新研究表明：鴿子有著驚人的記憶力，它們可以利用地標來記憶路線，甚至在四年后也不會遺忘！
The study data came from a 2016 experiment in which the birds tried to find their way home from a farm 8.6 kilometers away. When brought back to the same place in 2019 and 2020, the birds were able to plan their routes with great accuracy (準確度). University of Oxford zoologist Julien Collet said: “It was as if the last time they flew there was just the day before, not four years ago.”

Pigeons have long had a connection with people. They are among the earliest domesticated (家養的) birds. Their ability to find their way home made them valuable. People used them to carry important messages quickly over long distances (距離).
