Dahan (大漢), hanzi(漢子), haohan (好漢) and nanzihan (男子漢) all have the character han (漢). Do they have anything to do with the Han Dynasty (朝代)?

“大漢”、“漢子”、“好漢”和“男子漢”都有這個“漢”字——和“漢朝”有關系嗎？

During the Han Dynasty (206 BC - AD 220), the soldiers (士兵) of the Han Dynasty fought against the Xiongnu people from the north. They were brave (勇敢的). They won many times. So the Xiongnu people called them dahan, hanzi, haohan and nanzihan.

在漢朝(公元前206年-公元220年)，漢朝的士兵攻打北部的匈奴人，他們十分勇敢，并打了很多次勝仗——匈奴人稱其這些“威猛的漢子”為“大漢、漢子、好漢、男子漢”。

These names became popular (流行的) across the country. People used them to refer to (指) the soldiers of the Han Dynasty. Later, people used hanzi to refer to men. Dahan referred to tall men. Haohan referred to heroes (英雄). Nanzihan referred to strong men.

這些名字逐漸流行開來。人們用“漢子”代指漢朝的士兵，后來，“漢子”成了“男性的統稱”。我們通常用“大漢”代指那些高大的男性、用“好漢”代指英雄、用“男子漢”代指那些強壯的男性（你有別的用法嗎，在評論區告訴商城君吧�。�。

In the Song Dynasty (960-1279), haohan referred to a certain (特定的) group of people. They went to live in the mountains and forests. A good example is the 108 haohan in Heroes of the Marshes (《水滸傳》).

在宋朝（960——1279），“好漢”特指那些住在山林里的“綠林好漢”。《水滸傳》里的108位好漢就是很好的例子！（又學到了）
